How to use Fujitsu-Siemens ServerView Remote Storage

leave a comment »

Similarly to DELL iDRAC’s Virtual Media, Fujitsu-Siemes offers identical features on its lights-out managemnet interface (iRMC – Integrated Remote Management Controller) known as “Remote Storage”. After logging in to the iRMC’s ServerView web interface you will probably have something like this.

Next go to “Console Redirection -> Video Redirection” and click on the “Start Video Redirection” using either ActiveX or Java depending on your browser.

Click “OK” on the pop-up window to get full control of the new session to the Primergy server.

If you jump to the web interface’s “Remote Storage” menu you will also notice that you have the ability to setup and use a remote storage server…

Back to the “Video Redirection” console select the “Remote Storage” menu

This will open an ugly window that looks like this.

So, click on the “Add” button and select the media you want to use from your local computer to the remote server.

Now, click on the newly added media and then press the “Connect” button.

After the media is connected the “Storage Devices” window should look like the following.

There is nothing left to do. You can use the remote storage on your server!
