This is nothing new. Just check out the login banner:

To ensure that this is just a TrendChip router I checked the version like this:

Well, it’s kind of obvious. There’s only one thing left to check…

Indeed, it is a TC3085 router. At least we learned that those EDIMAX routers are in fact TrendChip :-P
Of course, this doesn’t mean that it isn’t a good device. TrendChip routers have numerous configurable options. Of course, since I’ve already written a description for those there is no need to repeat myself.

  1. That’s nuts! I recently purchased a BILLION 5200G over this device a few weeks ago. It was ~$5 more than than this Edimax model in the same shop.

    Along with the telnet interface this web interface is IDENTICAL to the Billion, with blue instead of red. Is this what the post is about? All these routers using the same chipset and even interfaces? What a jyp!
